Defined By What I Love: The Post Where I Explain Myself (Jessi's Version)

Okay. Hi. Deep breath.

I'm starting something and I need you to know it's not a "content strategy." It's a confession.

Here's What You Need To Know about me

I have an alter ego named Madge Powers. I put everything in order by rainbow. Candy before I eat it. My phone apps. My closet, when I'm feeling ambitious. I have one red lipstick I would defend in court, there is no alternative. Some TV characters are my closest friends and I stand behind that. I spend my spare time crocheting blankets while I travel the nation living in an RV with my husband and my dog. Somewhere along the way, a certain someone said we should be defined by the things we love — and I felt that in my whole entire body, because that's the only way I've ever known how to be!

Defined By What I Love

A running record of the things that wreck me, delight me, and make my heart do the little kick-drum thing. Palettes that make me pull the car over and not always metaphorically. Design out in the wild that's so good it makes me mad I didn't do it. Colors that have no business being that beautiful on a Tuesday. Restaurant stories from my decades in the trenches.

Why do this publicly?

Because taste is the whole job. When someone hires me to build their brand, they're not really buying logos — they're buying my eye. This is a lifetime of me noticing. You’ll get my very specific opinions about orange, why the lower case g defines a font or how Thursday is an odd number. So instead of keeping all that noticing in my screenshots folder, I'm emptying my pockets here, out loud, where it belongs. I run a business called Loudest Woman. Quietly hoarding beauty was never going to work for me.

What to expect

I'm bringing things I love, at full volume, a couple times a month. Sometimes it's one perfect palette and why it ruined my week. Sometimes it's a brand or show I'm obsessed with, dissected with love and always a healthy amount of snark. I'll regale you in a few restaurant stories of my years slinging mayhem and once a month I’m putting out The Raccoon Files highlighting the feral shit I’m into at the moment.

What NOT to expect

Trends, algorithms, or me pretending to like anything that isn’t screaming color will not be tolerated here. That's it.That's the post. I'm defined by what I love, and now you get to watch.

What's wrecking YOU this week? For real — tell me. I need to know.
